SBMC Monte Carlo Night
Past Presidents
N/A

Period Active: July
Speaking of our Past Presidents, for many year our club has raised money for the “Christmas Kids” holiday shopping spree by Beer-tending at the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. It has been the SBMC Past Presidents who have led the event for many highly fruitful years however this year they decided another approach could involve many more members as well as raise the bar a bit. Therefore as our club has less on the program during the summer the focus will be on the SBMC Monte Carlo Night at the Best Bet Casino in Regency. Attendees will raise the bar on the attire for the evening, purchase tickets with proceeds going towards the Christmas Kids, and have a night even Danny Ocean would appreciate, just a bit closer to the water than Vegas.

Junior Achievement Project

Period Active: December
Our final 2015 Civic Project will engage long-time member and business focused Junior Achievement! SBMC members will take to the classroom for an opportunity to influence young minds and pass on the wisdom gained by experiences in life and the workplace. Here students will be exposed to a variety of occupations to begin their consideration as to what “they want to be when they grow up.”

Caring Chefs

Period Active: October
SBMC’s primary charitable focus is and has always been the youth in our community. It is in this spirit we support another deserving non-profit, the Children’s Home Society. Every year restaurants from all around the city, as well as a few culinary institutions, gather at the Avenues mall (usually a week in October when the Jags have a Bye week or at least are away) for the annual Caring Chefs fundraiser. Tickets for attendees are in the $50 range and allow the sampling of fine cuisine and offerings of everyone ranging from Ruth Chris to FSCJ’s culinary institute. It’s here that a handful of our members do one thing SBMC does truly well, serves the drinks! We’re limited to about a dozen volunteers and the event usually is filled by those having served for many previous years. Another example of a setting where members get to know one another personally and professionally by donating their time outside of office hours for the benefit of a worthy cause.
