Issue 177, May 7, 2023

This past Wednesday, we awarded seven scholarships to some very talented college students and JROTC members. They received a combined $32,000, from our efforts of SBMC’s fundraising activities. We can be proud to brag about the over $500,000 we have awarded to our young adults over the years. A huge thank you to Howard Caplan, chairman, and Hal Smith, co-chairman, and their committee volunteers that did all the reviews and made the decisions from numerous applications.

This week, join us to hear the latest from Lisa Rinaman, St. Johns Riverkeeper. This will be the second-to-last week to bring a wine bottle donation or to buy a raffle ticket for Only $25. Help us to reach our goal of 50 bottles for the drawing. Hope to see you at our next meeting.

On a sad note, we lost one of our very active members and a Past President, Gene Bushor, this week. Bushor owned Bushor Tree Surgeons and was the ongoing sponsor for our weekly drawing of our weekly Attendance Award drawing. Our heart goes out to his family, friends, and all that knew him. Services are this Tuesday at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd, at Noon.
