Issue 201, October 16, 2023

Wow! What a weekend! Saturday, we had a wonderful turnout for the annual Car Show, this year at the Jacksonville Sports Car Museum. Many of our members attended and a lot of the potential community also supported the event. Way to go, Adam Canni!

Sunday, we had our annual Tailgate Party at the Jags/Colts game. Paul Bednar outdid himself with wonderful libations, and breakfast and lunch from Metro Diner. He and Alicia had both the dogs out for support (and playtime). If you missed the game, we won!! A great time was had by all, and this newsletter is late because we had a little too much fun. Richard Robinson of Pink Salt stepped in and made one killer Jag Juice and our DJ rocked the fairgrounds.

As far as our speaker this past week, Tim Gartner, owner of Fish Wier Brewery, shared his journey in building a first-class brewery in the Westside of Jacksonville. Tim chose that area because it was aligned with his mission; He wants to make connections, serve multiple people, and get involved with a neighborhood that needs some help. He saw the Edgewood area as a perfect fit.

Gartner went into detail about how beer was made, and the extensive process needed to keep everything clean and sterilized. He passed around some hops and flavoring pellets to everyone so we could taste some of the items that set his beer apart. He said yeast is the secret to the best beers.

His favorites are his Pale Ale’s and Lager’s, though he has many more available. He distributes many of his beers to local restaurants, and some to major retailers.

Next week, join us to hear Kevin Sosa with Wounded Warrior. He’s going to give us a preview of Trunk-or-Treat (this Friday) and give us an overview of what services Wounded Warrior provides for our vets. Please join us, bring a guest, and don’t forget your gift card donation for our club raffle. Get your business recognized. See you on Wednesday!

Respectfully,
Jeanne Maron
