Issue 202, October 22, 2023

This week at our club meeting, we heard Kevin Sosa, Alumni Manager of Wounded Warrior. Sosa is in charge of the yearly Trunk-or-Treat, as well as other support programs.
His background and service to our country is vast. He joined the US Army at the age of 18 and served three combat tours in Iraq as a combat engineer until his medical retirement in 2013, nine years later. During Sergeant Sosa’s combat tours, he was in the proximity of many IED blasts. These explosions are the underlying reason for his brain injury and today suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder. He received five Commendation Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, and many others for his heroic service.
Sosa told us about his work at Wounded Warrior and how honored he is to be paid to do what he loves. He supports his fellow veterans and works to make a difference in their lives.
Following his talk, our experience this past Friday at this year’s Trunk-or-Treat was rewarding and fun. We handed out candy as well as engaged with the children with our putting green. They were all appreciative and adorable. What a great experience for the kids…and for us. I want to give a huge shout out to Wayne Baker for chairing, decorating and setting up the tent, coordinating a great group of volunteers.

Please join us this week as we hear from Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax-Action News, who will speak on our beloved Jags and the sports scene in Jax. Please bring a guest and a door prize and get recognized. This will be a great meeting to show off our club. Have a great week!

Respectfully,
Jeanne Maron
