Happy New Year, and greetings as your new SBMC President for 2024!
For those who may not yet know me, my name is Michael Best. My journey with SBMC began in 2015, and since then, I’ve taken on various roles including board of governors member, Sergeant at Arms, and climbing through the ranks of VP to now proudly serve as your President. My involvement has spanned every facet of our organization, and it’s a true privilege to lead SBMC this year.
I’d like to extend my gratitude to Jeanne Maron for her exceptional leadership last year. Her dedication has rightfully earned her the position of Chairman of the Board.
A big thank you goes out to my leadership team for this term: 1st VP Ken Petsch, 2nd VP Mark Geil, 3rd VP Mike Slagle, 4th VP Adam Canni, Sergeant at Arms Wayne Baker, and Treasurer AJ Richwine. Their leadership and commitment in these initial weeks have been outstanding.
This year promises an infusion of vibrant energy and creative initiatives, aimed at both expanding our membership base and enriching the experience for our current members. Our calendar is packed with engaging activities – from casual hangouts and bowling evenings to pickleball and sports event nights. Experience the camaraderie at our ‘meet-a-member’ events, enjoy dinner and a show at Alhambra Theatre, and don’t miss our festive Holiday Party.
We’re also excited about our lineup of fundraising events including volunteering at the TPC, a golf tournament, a skeet shooting competition, and a BBQ, all of which support our causes. Additionally, we have our scholarship awards ceremony, first responder luncheon and one of our most well attended events, the Christmas Kids Shopping Spree among many other opportunities to connect, meet new people, and actively engage with our community. There’s something for everyone, and these events are fantastic ways to get involved and make a difference.
We’re also excited about our new meeting venue at Seasons 52, where the food and desserts are a delight! If it’s been a while since you last attended a meeting, I warmly invite you to join us at our upcoming meeting on January 24th. Let’s make this year a remarkable one together!
