Issue 22, May 28

As it turned out, last week’s guest speaker Richard Nunn, Meteorologist for Channel 4, had to cancel at the last minute.  Something about tornadoes and bad weather in the area…. sound familiar?  Thanks to City Council Member Danny Becton for coming in to save the day!  It was interesting to hear about the pension reform bill among other things.

If you haven’t already heard, we had a one-of-a-kind happening at the 22nd YAP Charity Golf Classic.  Juan Pertierra, from Vector Security, hit a hole in one on the cash prize hole.  $25,000!!! He will get $10,000 and our YAP Charity will get $15,000.  This has never happened in the 22 year history of this tournament.  So very exciting!!!

This week’s meeting will be very special!  It is our scholarship awards meeting where we will give out 13 scholarships to college bound students.  Each of them will tell us what field of study they will pursue and thank us for the scholarships.  We encourage ALL members to try to be at this meeting in support of these hardworking students.

Also at this meeting we will have the drawing for the YAP Wine Raffle.  This is the last week to donate a bottle or two of wine and to buy raffle tickets.  You can buy them online here.  The lucky name drawn will win all of the bottles of wine.  So far we have at least 50 bottles of wine.  Good luck to everyone who bought a raffle ticket(s)!!!

See you Wednesday!
