Issue 3, January 15th

We had a great meeting last week!  Jim McCarthy from North Florida Land Trust was our guest speaker. North Florida Land Trust is a not for profit 501c3 company. It is privately owned.  They look for land to preserve natural resources in seven counties on the First Coast. They own 11% of the Timiquana Preserve and 98% of Big Talbot Island. NFLT just purchased the Spanish/American War Fort that was built in 1898.  It is the only one in the United States and Jim and his team are working with the National Park Service to preserve it. The monument is still in its original condition and location. The War Fort will open to the public when it’s taken over by the National Park Service.

Our speaker next Wednesday is Brad Thoburn with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.

Please go to sbmcjax.com to register online for the weekly lunch meeting.  Pre-paid cost is $20.00 for members, $22.00 if paying at the door via credit card.
