Issue 42 October 18

Our guest speaker last week was City Council President Anna Brosche. She has been in the City Council since 2015 and was elected president this past July. Since that time, she has established new committees for these three issues: the opioid epidemic, the upkeep of Jacksonville’s park system (over 400 park/recreation facilities exist!) and lastly, a committee for safe and healthy neighborhoods.
There was a robust discussion concerning the removal of historical statues along with a review of the incident between a police officer and two Council members over a stolen tag. I’m looking forward to seeing how that one plays out!

This week our guest speaker is Bob Ohrablo with the Jacksonville IceMen. He’ll share details for Jacksonville’s first pro hockey season and how it impacts the sports and entertainment landscape here in northeast Florida.

Our wine raffle is underway and we have over 20 bottles of wine donated already! Please keep bringing in your bottles of wine! You can buy your tickets ($10 each) at the meeting from Jeff Volpe. The drawing for the wine will be during our November 1st meeting. Details below.

See you Wednesday!
