Issue 45 November 19

Lake Ray gave an interesting talk about his research and discovery of Jacksonville’s Fort Caroline historical site. Lake provided details as to why Fort Caroline is important to our state and national history. If Fort Caroline didn’t exist, the development of the southeastern United States would look entirely different nowadays and we would have no city of Saint Augustine. Here’s a piece of trivia: the location of the very first Thanksgiving was held at Fort Caroline on June 30, 1564.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, please note that SBMC is not meeting next Wednesday, November 22. Have a wonderful holiday with family and friends!

We’ll see you back on the 29th,

Julie Clements
2017 SBMC President
